ORTAK began with a simple belief: that the things we choose to live with matter.
Art, objects and interiors shape the atmosphere of a space. They hold memory, intention, material, labour and feeling. They can make a room quieter, stronger, warmer, and more alive. They can become part of a life, not because they match perfectly, but because they carry presence.
ORTAK is an independent curatorial platform for contemporary art and objects, based in London and working worldwide. We bring together artists, makers and collectors through considered selection, thoughtful presentation and a belief in building meaningful collections over time.
This space–ORTAK Notes–is where we will share the wider world around the platform.
Here, you can expect new works, artist stories, collecting notes, curated edits and occasional event invitations. Some notes will introduce artists and their practices. Some will look at materials, process, placement and the quiet decisions that make a piece feel right in a space. Others will gather works around a mood, texture, colour or interior language.
We are interested in pieces that hold their own.
A painting that changes the feeling of a room.
A ceramic object with weight and softness.
A sculpture that creates a pause.
A work on paper that draws you closer.
A functional object that moves beyond utility and into expression.
ORTAK is not built around fast consumption or endless choice. It is built around attention. We believe collecting does not need to feel intimidating, overly formal or inaccessible. It can begin slowly: with one piece, one artist, one object, one instinct that stays with you.
Through ORTAK Notes, we hope to make that process more open.
We will share what we are looking at, why certain works resonate, how artists approach material and form, and how art and objects can live meaningfully within interiors. We will also share selected updates from ORTAK, including new available works, artist features, private viewings, collaborations and occasional event invitations.
This is not a daily newsletter. It is a slower, more considered letter – sent when there is something worth sharing.
